On Saturday, 14 July 2018 the new portion of the cycle path has been inaugurated. It stretches for two kilometres from Hotel Panorama until the border with nearby Trentino region. The path is a unique and extraordinary achievement that allows to cycle or walk over a cliff with a breathtaking view, suspended between the lake and the sky.
The path is a metallic structure overlooking on the lake which runs next to the road SS45bis. It is two-metre large and it is paved with concrete panels with a wooden-like covering surface. A LED lighting system is mounted within the uprights of the parapet.
Work has started on 26 September, 2016 with the securing of the mountain side, so that the cantilevered path could be built. On 7 July 2018 the path was completed.
This achievement has been financed entirely by a fund raised by the neighbouring towns, for a total amount of 7,019,280 Euro.
This stretch is part of the longer “Ciclovia del Garda”, which will allow visitors to walk or cycle along the whole perimeter of Lake Garda without meeting the noise and fuss of cars.
