“La Forgiatura” is a big intervention of redevelopment of an industrial area in Milan in which architecture and landscape are integrated to the point of becoming some kind of urban oasis characterised by a tridimensional development of vegetation, that encompasses the old industrial buildings and unites them smoothly to the new constructions. The dynamism of the landscape – which presents artificial hills up to 8 metres in height – allows access to buildings on various levels, and also an exclusive sensorial experience cadenced by alternating spaces: green patios, heights, natural light, indoor and outdoor vegetation, old and new buildings. The project keeps an eye on energy performance, light and sound, with the aim of reaching high levels of environmental comfort and of lowering the consumption linked to air conditioning and artificial light.
