Brescia is a virtuous city in terms of sustainable development. The green policy already started in 2013, following the UN’s objectives for the 2030 Development Agenda. The city of Brescia devised strategies for urban regeneration, for the limitation of the devastation of the soil and for sustainable mobility. The safeguard of an existing green belt around the city is now being developed thanks to the presence of two parks: Parco delle Colline, that extends up to the Mella river, and Parco delle Cave. On this vast area of landscape, which used to be exploited as a site for gravel extraction, is now the site of a green regeneration aimed at creating a big park. The project was born in 2014 within the Urban Center Brescia with a shared participation, and it is now in its building phase. The city of Brescia has involved Società Brescia Strutture to redevelop the public spaces and the landscape, whereas the management of the park will be in the hands of various individuals.
